One series of games that I've always loved are the Game & Watch games. Originally, these were simple LCD games that could be played on digital watches, and they seemed to be pretty popular, winding up with about 50 games total, not counting the numerous remakes, re-releases, and collections. I started playing them on the Game Boy Color as part of the Game & Watch Gallery series, still go back to them every once in a while.
As such, I thought it would be kinda cool to try and emulate that LCD style of game, particularly because I really haven't seen anyone else try to use the style (am I the only one that thinks these would work fine on mobile devices?). The below game is a pretty blatant rip-off of Helmet, but I really wanted to get the movement system down, and this is one that I'm very familiar with.
Controls:
Left/Right keys: Move left or right
Cheats (Highlight to see):
Z: Increase score by 10 Points
Right now, I'm mostly trying to get the difficulty curve just right, but there seems to be a lot of tricky math involved. Also, Sorry about all of the numbers all over the screen. They're various variables that I wanted to make sure were working properly.
